Read Aloud Supporting Young Readers at FES

The WV Read Aloud program has been active in WV for many years and over the last few years has provided high quality readers and hundreds of books to the students at Fairplain Elementary.

This wonderful program has come through in a big way again for the students at Fairplain Elementary.  Jackson County Read Aloud chapter leader and former teacher, Janet  McCauley, headed a massive book give away to every third  and fourth grade student at FES.  This particular book distribution is part of a pilot program to enhance student engagement and interest in reading.  Each child was surveyed about their interests.  Read Aloud WV then complied collections of books at different reading levels for each child with the focus of their chosen interest.  Read Aloud WV will follow the effects of this book presentation on student achievement to help them determine if this program would be good for other students in WV.

Fairplain students and staff would like to extend a big thank you to Mrs. McCauley and the Read Aloud WV program.
