2. Update on HVAC
Mrs. Goff gave an update on the HVAC. The air has been working, with some days/different rooms being hot or too cold. When a problem occurs, Mrs. Goff or Janie Scarberry notifies the maintenance department. The HVAC has needed some adjustments where the temperatures have been changing.
3. Update on Designated Project Needs List (25-26)
a. This year for designated project needs list we asked for the two safety gates in the hallways to be fixed. We also asked for a new and much larger tv to be installed in the cafeteria to help families be able to read information during family engagement nights, PTO, open house, etc.
Safety
Shield Program
Mrs. Goff shared that the Shield Program with Jackson County Schools is continuing. We have officers in the building very often. They are required to sign in and out. With this program they are required to have two hours of work in the schools. The kids love seeing the cops and they do a wonderful job with talking to them and being mentors.
Monthly Safety Checklist
Mrs. Goff made everyone aware that her and the custodian walk through the building each month and complete a safety checklist. Mrs. Goff turns this into the Assistant Superintendent, Tim Brown each month.
Code Red Drills
Mrs. Goff made everyone aware that we are required to complete four code red drills a year, one for each nine weeks. We have completed two code red drills this year.
Centegix
Mr. Sears (Jackson County Schools Technology Director) presented Centegix to the LSIC meeting. The new security/alert system that Jackson County Schools has purchased is called Centegix. Employees will receive a badge that has a small circle on the back of it. If an employee presses it three times, the team (Mrs. Goff, Ms. Curry, and Ms. Sherri) will receive a notification that there is a medical emergency occurring. If a staff presses it eight times, then the school will be on a code red. There are red lights and a voice that will be going off saying “code red” to notify everyone. The team will get a notification, as well as the police. Mrs. Goff has designated Ms. Missy to be the one to call 911. Staff will be getting their badges when we return from Spring Break (most likely on April 17th). Mrs. Goff, Ms. Curry, and Ms. Sherri already have their badges and the application on their phones.

Classroom Behavior and Discipline
PBIS/Schoolwide Calendar
This year we are continuing with the schoolwide behavior calendar. Students are responding well to it. At the end of the month, students who earn enough “green days” get an activity. One person mentioned that scores would increase if behavior was addressed more through the county level. A second person was wondering if there was a way to send home notes or something that make the students and parents more accountable for the student’s behavior. Mrs. Goff said that she would reach out and get guidance if this would be allowed or how to go about this.
Academic Progress and Upcoming Dates
Mrs. Goff gave an update on iReady progress from BOY to MOY.
BOY- 29% of students was proficient in reading and 20% in math.
MOY- 58% of students is proficient in reading and 46% in math.
The EOY goal is to have 70% of students proficient in both reading and math.
At the MOY, we had 5 teachers rank in the top 5 of the county in reading and 4 teachers in math.
Parental Expectations for Student Academic Progress and Behaviors
Mrs. Goff went over that parents should be reading with their child every night and going over any academic skills to help them succeed. It is very important that the parents hold their child to high standards and help with encouraging good behavior at school.
Strategic/FOCUS Plan
Progress Towards Goals
Mrs. Goff reminded everyone that her goals this year are to increase reading and math levels. She is also working with staff to help them become more aware of data and things they can do to help students in a smaller setting on specific skills they are struggling with. Teachers are using iReady data and the WVDE GSA blueprints to help drive this extra support. Title 1 is doing ITT (intensive tier 2), which provides extra time throughout the day to work with students in grades 3rd-5th to get ready for the GSA assessment.
Meeting Dates for the Year
