Attention Ravenswood Middle School parents and guardians.. This evening students alerted administration of a potential safety concern in our school. An investigation by the school administration and our PROs began promptly. Safety protocols are being followed according to Jackson County Board Policy and WV State Law.
At this time there is no threat to the safety of our staff and/or students regarding this evening’s report. We are very proud of our students for making the report. This is an excellent example of students following our school training of alerting an adult to potential safety concerns.
As of 2:30 p.m., the following areas along Route 21 are experiencing high water:

Our buses will use alternate routes for student drop-off in the Crooked Run and Trace Fork areas. Please note that if your child's bus was unable to operate this morning, it will not operate this afternoon.
If a bus is unable to safely deliver students due to high water, students will be transported back to Gilmore Elementary School, which remains accessible via Independence Road.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we prioritize student safety.

This coming Friday, students will participate in several age-appropriate safety and prevention trainings required by the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE). These overviews address important—and sometimes sensitive—topics, including:
• Suicide prevention and awareness
• Self-harm prevention
• Body safety and personal-safety education
• Active-shooter and emergency preparedness
• Fentanyl and substance-use prevention
These trainings are intended to provide students with developmentally appropriate information, help them recognize warning signs, encourage safe decision-making, and ensure they know how to seek help from a trusted adult.

Attention Ravenswood Middle School Parents and Guardians. ..We will be holding our Back to School Open House on Friday, August 14th from 4-6 pm. 6th Grade families will enter through the Auditorium at 4:00 and 7th and 8th grade families will enter the building through the main entrance at 4. At around 4:55 an announcement will be made and the 7th and 8th grade students will come to the auditorium for their presentation while the 6th grade students tour the building. We look forward to seeing you there as we prepare to level up in the 26/27 school year.

Good evening. This is a reminder that tomorrow, May 29, 2026, Jackson County Schools will have a three-hour early dismissal, which is the last day of the school year for all students. If your child rides a bus, it will arrive at the drop-off location 3 hours before the normal drop-off time.
