Good evening. On April 8, 2024, Jackson County will experience a Solar Eclipse with a magnitude of 94.7%. The height of the eclipse will be around 3:13 p.m., coinciding with dismissal times for many of our schools. Jackson County Schools has taken a proactive approach to this occurrence by purchasing special glasses for our students so they can experience this spectacular event, which will not occur again until 2044. Last week, guardians should have received a letter from our school system explaining the procedures we have in place for the eclipse as safety is always our top concern. Good afternoon. This is Will Hosaflook, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools.
On Tuesday, December 19, our internet service provider WVNET will be completing network maintenance on their server systems. It is very likely all governmental agencies and schools in West Virginia will not have internet access. However, all school phone systems should work if you need to contact the school. School personnel are aware of the internet outage and have adjusted their plans accordingly. Tuesday will be our last full day of school before Christmas break, while on Wednesday, December 20, students will be dismissed 3 hours early. Please have a wonderful Holiday Season.
